Jordan tourist eVisa

Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond departure
Your Tanzanian passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of departure from Jordan. Airlines at Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro check this strictly — they will deny boarding if it's close.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Queen Alia International Airport routinely asks for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone — they may check it before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your Jordanian host. Border officers sometimes ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a bank statement showing at least $500 USD or the equivalent in Jordanian dinars. Immigration may ask to see it if you look underfunded — cash in USD or JOD is easiest to show.Recommended
Apply early — processing can be slow
The Jordanian e-Visa system can take up to 3 weeks to process applications. Don't wait until the last minute. Apply at least 3 weeks before your departure to avoid stress.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your e-Visa PDF, flight tickets, and hotel booking on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your printed documents, you can still show them on your phone at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-Visa online
Go to the Jordanian Ministry of Interior e-services portal (eservices.moi.gov.jo). Create an account, fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the visa fee online. Processing usually takes 3–10 business days, but can be longer — apply at least 3 weeks before your trip.
2
Wait for approval and print the visa
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF visa document via email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Jordan.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before heading to the airport, gather: your printed e-Visa, passport (6+ months validity), return/onward ticket confirmation, and first night hotel booking. Keep them in a folder you can grab quickly.
4
Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM)
When you land in Amman, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport, printed e-Visa, and boarding pass. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking — have them ready. They'll stamp your passport and let you through. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes if the queue is short.
