eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Tanzania passport holders need an eVisa to enter Tajikistan. Apply at the official Tajikistan eVisa portal — processing usually takes 3 to 5 working days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to present at border control.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Tajikistan. Tajikistan does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule, but airlines may ask for at least 3 months beyond your departure date.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Dushanbe International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready to show.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Tajikistan. Border officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have at least $200 USD in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself during your stay.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival
Tanzanian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival at Tajikistan airports or land borders. You must have an approved eVisa before you travel. Airlines will check this before letting you board.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Tajikistan, not from your departure date. If your passport expires in 5 months, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.tj and fill out the application. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit card. Processing typically takes 3-5 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive and print eVisa
You'll get the eVisa by email as a PDF. Print a paper copy and save the PDF on your phone. The eVisa is usually valid for 90 days from issue, allowing a single entry for up to 45 days.
3
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport
Most travellers fly into Dushanbe (DYU). After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will check your documents, take a photo, and stamp you in.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're free to enter Tajikistan.
