Ukrainians can travel to Finland without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This covers tourism, business meetings, and visiting family or friends. As of 2026, the rules haven't changed — just ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay in Finland
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Finland. Finland does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but airlines may still enforce this — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Finland
Immigration officers at Helsinki Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Finland within the 90-day visa-free limit.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or an invitation letter from your host. Border officers may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card ready. Finland does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but officers expect you to cover accommodation, food, and transport for your stay.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the day you arrive in Finland, not from when you leave. If it expires sooner, renew it before you travel.
90-day limit applies to all Schengen countries
The 90 days are shared across all 27 Schengen countries. If you spend 30 days in France, you only have 60 days left for Finland and the rest of the zone.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Helsinki Airport (HEL) or other border
You'll go through passport control. Join the queue for non-EU/EEA travellers. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer may ask about your plans — answer honestly. The process usually takes 2-5 minutes per person.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. If asked, show your return ticket (screenshot or printed) and accommodation booking. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp it. You'll get a stamp with the entry date and allowed stay.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then go through customs. Green channel for nothing to declare, red channel if you have goods over the duty-free limit. Then you're free to enter Finland.
