Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Burkina Faso eVisa
Apply for a Burkina Faso eVisa at the official portal before travel. The online form asks for passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Burkina Faso. Airlines at Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Burkina Faso
Immigration officers at Ouagadougou Airport routinely ask for a printed or digital onward ticket showing you leave within the eVisa validity period. A flight reservation or bus ticket to a neighboring country works — just have the confirmation ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Burkina Faso. Officers rarely ask for it, but if you arrive without a clear place to stay, they may question your purpose of visit.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for the trip
Carry at least 200,000 CFA francs (~$330 USD) in cash or have a bank statement showing you can cover your stay. Burkina Faso is a cash-heavy country — credit cards are not widely accepted outside major hotels.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory
You must carry your International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card). Immigration at Ouagadougou Airport may ask to see it. Without it, you could be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot.
eVisa is the only option for Vietnamese passport holders
There is no visa-on-arrival or visa-free entry for Vietnamese citizens. You must obtain the eVisa before travel. No embassy visit required.
