Vietnamese passport holders can enter Singapore without a visa for tourism or business visits up to 30 days. This policy is in effect for 2026, making Singapore one of the easiest destinations for Vietnamese travelers. Ensure your passport meets validity requirements and you have a return ticket ready.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Singapore. Immigration officers at Changi Airport check this at the counter — no 6-month rule applies for Vietnamese passport holders entering visa-free.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration at Changi Airport routinely asks for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready — budget airlines check this before boarding too.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Singapore. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least 1,000 SGD in cash, a credit card, or a recent bank statement. Immigration may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay — a quick answer with proof works.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Singapore. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. Renew your passport well in advance.
No visa, but don't skip the return ticket
While you don't need a visa, immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. A screenshot on your phone is fine.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date), print or save your return ticket and hotel booking confirmation. If you're using an eSIM, install it before you fly.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport and proceed to immigration
At Changi Airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Foreign Passports'. Join the queue for non-Singaporean passports. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
3
Present your passport and answer questions
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly. They may also ask to see your return ticket.
4
Receive your entry stamp and collect luggage
The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day visit pass. Check the stamp says '30 days'. Then proceed to baggage claim and customs.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free entry is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a different visa type before your 30 days expire, or leave and re-enter (though re-entry may be scrutinised). Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
You will likely be denied boarding by your airline or refused entry at Singapore immigration. Renew your passport before travelling. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced.
No, Singapore does not require an arrival declaration for Vietnamese passport holders under the visa-free scheme. You simply present your passport at immigration.
Yes, you can enter via the Causeway or Second Link from Malaysia. The same visa-free rules apply — 30 days, passport validity 6+ months, return ticket. Immigration checks are similar to Changi Airport.
Denial is rare if you meet all requirements. If it happens, you'll be placed on a return flight at your own expense. Common reasons: insufficient funds, no return ticket, or previous overstay. You can appeal at the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) building, but it's best to avoid the situation by being fully prepared.
Not officially required, but immigration officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Having a credit card or a few hundred SGD in cash is wise.
No. The visa-free entry is strictly for tourism, business meetings, or social visits. Working or studying requires a separate work pass or student pass. Doing so without authorisation is illegal and can lead to deportation and a ban.
