Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Singapore. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this at the counter before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Singapore. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least 1,000 SGD (or equivalent) available. Immigration may ask for proof of sufficient funds, especially if you arrive without a return ticket.Recommended
SG Arrival Card (SGAC)
Digital arrival declaration for Singapore
Submit the SG Arrival Card online at eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard within 3 days before your arrival. It's free and takes 2 minutes — you get a confirmation email with a QR code to show at immigration.Submit SG Arrival CardOptional
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines will not let you board if your passport has less than 6 months validity from your entry date. Double-check before you book your flight.
No arrival card needed
Singapore no longer requires paper arrival cards for most nationalities. You just walk up to the immigration counter with your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you queue
Have your passport, boarding pass, and onward ticket screenshot ready before you reach the immigration counter at Changi Airport. The queue moves fast, and fumbling for documents slows everyone down.
2
Approach the foreign passport counter
At Changi, follow signs for 'Foreign Passports' (not 'Singapore Citizens' or 'Automated Lanes'). Hand over your passport and boarding pass. The officer will ask a few questions — purpose of visit, where you're staying, how long.
3
Get your entry stamp and check the date
The officer will stamp your passport with the date you must leave. Check it immediately — if it's wrong (e.g., only 14 days instead of 30), ask politely for a correction before leaving the counter.
