Zambian passport holders must obtain an approved e-Visa from the official Thai e-Visa website before departure. Apply at least several weeks in advance and carry the approved e-Visa document (printed or digital) for presentation upon arrival.Required
Passport validityIf your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel.
6 months beyond arrival
Your Zambia passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended date of entry into Thailand (i.e., valid until at least February 2027 if entering in August 2026).Required
Blank passport pagesThe immigration officer needs a clean page to stamp your passport.
At least 1 blank page
Your passport must contain at least 1 blank page (unmarked) for the entry stamp. It is safer to have 2 blank pages.Required
Return or onward ticketA ticket leaving Thailand proves you intend to depart before your visa expires.
Proof of departure
You must be able to show a confirmed return or onward flight ticket departing Thailand within the period allowed by your e-Visa (typically 60 days). Immigration may ask to see this at check-in or upon arrival.Required
Proof of fundsImmigration officers may ask to see that you can support yourself financially.
Financial evidence
Be prepared to show evidence of sufficient funds for your stay, such as cash, bank statements, or credit cards. The amount is not fixed but should cover accommodation and living expenses for the duration of your visit.Recommended
Accommodation proofHaving a place to stay documented helps show your travel plans are genuine.

Carry a copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Thailand, including the address. This may be requested at immigration.Recommended
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)You do not need to fill out any arrival card or online declaration before landing.

Apply early — don't risk it
The e-visa processing time is not guaranteed. If you apply too close to your departure date and it's delayed, you could miss your flight. Apply at least 2 weeks in advance.
No visa on arrival for Zambians
Zambian passport holders are not eligible for Thailand's visa-on-arrival scheme. The e-visa is the only way to enter for tourism — don't assume you can sort it out at the airport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to the official Thai e-visa website (https://www.thaievisa.go.th/), create an account, fill in the application form, upload the required documents (passport scan, photo, travel itinerary), and pay the fee. Processing typically takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive your e-visa approval
Once approved, you'll get a notification by email. Log in to the e-visa portal to download your approval letter. Print a copy to carry with you — some airlines check this before boarding.
3
Arrive at the airport in Thailand
At Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Don Mueang (DMK), Phuket, or Chiang Mai, go to the immigration queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport, printed e-visa, and boarding pass ready. The officer will scan your passport and stamp you in, usually for up to 60 days.
4
Pass through immigration and collect luggage
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim and customs. There's no separate visa-on-arrival desk for you — you're already cleared. Keep your passport safe; you'll need it when you leave.

Frequently asked questions

The e-visa typically allows a stay of up to 60 days for tourism. The exact duration is stamped on your passport upon arrival. It is not extendable, so if you want to stay longer, you'd need to leave and re-enter or apply for a different visa type.
The fee is paid online during the application. As of 2026, the standard tourist e-visa fee is around 1,000 THB (about $30 USD), but check the official website for the exact amount — it can change. Payment is made by credit/debit card on the e-visa portal.
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but it can take longer during peak seasons. Apply at least 1–2 weeks before your departure to be safe. You'll receive an email notification once it's approved.
No. Zambian passport holders are not eligible for visa-on-arrival in Thailand. You must have the e-visa approved before you travel. Without it, you'll be denied boarding.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it expires during your stay, you'll have problems with immigration and may face fines or detention. Always renew your passport before traveling if it's close to expiry.
The e-visa application may ask for your travel itinerary, including a return or onward ticket. It's not always mandatory, but having one ready speeds up the process. Immigration at the airport may also ask to see it.
No. The e-visa is not extendable. If you overstay, you'll be fined 500 THB per day (up to 20,000 THB) and may be banned from re-entering Thailand. If you want to stay longer, you must leave the country and re-enter with a new visa.
