Frequently asked questions

Standard processing takes 3 to 8 weeks. You can pay extra for priority service (5 working days) or super priority (next working day) if available at the Visa Application Centre in Harare. Priority costs around £200 extra.
A Standard Visitor visa costs £115 (approximately US$145). This is for a 6-month visa. Longer visas (2, 5, or 10 years) cost more — £400, £771, and £963 respectively. Fees are paid online during the application.
Standard Visitor visas cannot be extended. You must leave before your visa expires. If you need to stay longer for a specific reason (e.g. medical treatment), you must apply for a different visa type before travelling.
Immigration officers can ask for proof you can support yourself during your stay. While not always requested, it's wise to carry bank statements or a credit card showing available funds. A good rule: have enough for £100–150 per day of your stay.
You'll receive a letter explaining the reason. Common reasons include insufficient funds, unclear travel plans, or weak ties to Zimbabwe. You can reapply, but you'll need to address the rejection reason. There's no formal appeal for visitor visas.
Zimbabwean passport holders generally need a visa even for airside transit (not passing through immigration). The only exception is if you hold a valid US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Schengen visa and are transiting to a country outside the UK. Check the UK government's transit visa page for exact rules.
The UK Visa Application Centre in Harare is at 1st Floor, Block B, ZB Centre, Corner of Samora Machel Avenue and Leopold Takawira Street. You'll need to book an appointment online after submitting your application.
