Passport validity is critical
A passport valid for less than 6 months is the most common reason for denied boarding or entry. Double-check your passport's expiry date before booking flights.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you fly, check your passport is valid for at least 6 months and has a blank page. Print or download your return ticket and any proof of funds. If you have a yellow fever certificate, keep it handy.
2
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi) or other entry points
When you land, follow the signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for Kenyan citizens and foreigners — join the foreigner queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
3
Present your passport to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your details, may ask about your stay (purpose, duration, where you're staying), and will stamp your passport with a visitor's entry stamp. This is usually quick — a few minutes per person.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then go through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're now free to enter Kenya.
