Proof of departure
Immigration officers may ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready to show at the border.Recommended

eVisa only — no visa on arrival
Zimbabweans cannot get a visa on arrival. You must have the eVisa approved before you fly. Airlines check this before boarding.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.tj, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD) by card. Processing takes 2–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
You'll get an email with the approved eVisa as a PDF. Print two copies — one to hand over at immigration, one as backup. Also save it on your phone.
3
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport
Head to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket if asked. The officer stamps you in — usually takes 2–3 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel. There's a customs desk if you're carrying anything to declare. Otherwise, walk straight out.

Frequently asked questions

Usually 2–5 business days. Apply at least a week before your trip to be safe. The official site is evisa.tj.
No. Zimbabweans must have an approved eVisa before boarding. There is no visa-on-arrival option.
Around $50 USD, paid online by credit or debit card. The exact amount depends on the current exchange rate.
Yes — you need proof of onward travel. A bus or train ticket out of the country works. If you're crossing into Uzbekistan or Kyrgyzstan, show that ticket.
You'll be denied entry. Renew your passport before applying for the eVisa. The 6 months are counted from your entry date, not your departure.
The eVisa is not extendable. If you need more time, you'd have to leave and reapply. Plan your trip within the eVisa's allowed duration.
Not mandatory, but strongly recommended. Medical care in Tajikistan can be expensive — a simple hospital visit can cost hundreds. Insurance covers that and trip disruptions.
