Apply at least 48 hours before departure
The UK government recommends applying for the EVW at least 48 hours before your flight. If you apply too late, you risk being denied boarding. There's no expedited service at the airport.
Single entry only
The EVW is valid for one entry. If you plan to visit Ireland, France, or any other country during your UK stay and then return, you'll need a new EVW for the second entry.

Apply for the EVW online
Go to the UK government's EVW application page (gov.uk/electronic-visa-waiver). Fill in your passport details, travel dates, and personal information. Pay the £30 fee with a credit or debit card. You'll receive a confirmation email with your EVW reference number — save it and print a copy.

Check in for your flight
At the airline check-in counter, present your passport and the EVW confirmation. The airline will verify your EVW is valid. If you don't have it, you won't be allowed to board.

Arrive at a UK airport
You'll land at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, or another airport. Follow signs to 'UK Border' or 'Arrivals'. There are ePassport gates for UAE citizens — if you're 18 or over and have a biometric passport, you can use them. Otherwise, join the 'All Other Passports' queue.

Pass through border control
At the desk, hand over your passport. The officer may ask about your trip — where you're staying, how long, and what you'll do. Answer honestly. They'll stamp your passport with a 6-month entry stamp. Keep the stamp — you'll need it when you leave.

Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing border control, proceed to baggage claim, then through customs (green channel if you have nothing to declare). You're now in the UK!
