Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Cambodia eVisa at evisa.gov.kh. The fee is $30 USD, and processing takes 3 business days. Print the approval letter and bring it with you — immigration stamps the visa into your passport on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months
Your Bulgarian passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your arrival date in Cambodia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cambodia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a flight out of Cambodia within your visa validity. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready — a bus or boat ticket may not be accepted.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement ready. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your expenses.Recommended
Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival counter only accepts US dollars cash. There are ATMs after immigration, but not before. Bring $30-35 in small bills to avoid hassles.
Photo service available
If you forget a passport photo, they'll take one at the counter for a small fee. But having your own photo saves a few minutes.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the visa-on-arrival counter
After deplaning at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airport, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival'. There's usually a separate queue. Fill out the application form (available at the counter).
2
Submit documents and pay
Hand over your passport, the completed form, one photo, and $30 USD cash. The officer will process it and give you a receipt. Wait nearby — it takes about 5-10 minutes.
3
Collect your passport with visa
When your name is called, collect your passport with the visa sticker inside. Check that the visa dates are correct before walking away.
4
Proceed to immigration
Go to the immigration counter with your passport and boarding pass. They'll stamp you in. Keep the arrival card they give you — you'll need it when you leave.
