What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa online
Go to the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs visa portal (visawebapp.boca.gov.tw). Fill out the application form, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 USD, varies by visa type). Processing takes 5–14 business days.
2
Receive your visa approval
Once approved, you'll get a visa sticker or an approval letter via email. Print the letter and carry it with your passport. Do not book flights until you have this.
3
Arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)
Go to the 'Foreigners' queue at immigration. Hand over your passport, visa approval letter, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly. They'll stamp you in for up to 30 days.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel, then walk through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
