What happens at the border

1
Apply for your e-Visa
Go to thaievisa.go.th and create an account. Fill out the application, upload your documents (passport photo, flight itinerary, hotel booking, bank statement), and pay the fee. Processing takes 5–10 business days, so apply at least 2 weeks before your flight.
2
Prepare your documents
Once approved, print or save digital copies of your visa approval, passport bio page, return ticket, and hotel booking. Keep them in a folder on your phone — you'll need them at check-in and immigration.
3
Complete the TDAC (optional)
Before you fly, fill out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card at tdac.immigration.go.th. It's free and takes 2 minutes. You'll get a QR code that lets you skip the paper form at immigration.
4
Arrive in Thailand
At Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK), follow signs to immigration. Present your passport with the visa sticker and your boarding pass. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly and calmly. After stamping, collect your bags and head to arrivals.

Frequently asked questions

No. Ivory Coast is not on Thailand's visa-on-arrival list. You must get a tourist visa from a Thai embassy or consulate before you travel.
Typically 5–10 business days. Apply at least 2 weeks before your planned departure to be safe. The e-Visa system may be faster than in-person applications.
The fee varies by embassy but is usually around 1,000–2,000 Thai Baht (roughly $30–$60 USD). Check the Thai embassy in Abidjan for exact fees.
You'll need a passport valid for 6+ months, 2 passport-sized photos, a completed application form, flight itinerary, hotel booking, and recent bank statements showing sufficient funds (typically at least $500–$1,000).
No. The standard tourist visa is not extendable. You would need to leave and re-enter or apply for a different visa type if you want to stay longer.
Not usually, but it's wise to have a bank statement or cash available. Immigration officers rarely ask, but they can if they suspect you can't support yourself.
Overstays are fined 500 Baht per day (about $15 USD). Overstays over 90 days can result in a ban from re-entering Thailand. Always leave before your visa expires.
