Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Singapore. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket showing you leave Singapore within 30 days. Budget airlines flying into Changi are especially strict about this — have your printed or digital boarding pass ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Singapore. Immigration may ask for it if you look like you are staying with friends or family — a printed booking confirmation covers you.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Carry at least SGD 1,000 (or equivalent in USD/EUR) in cash or have a bank statement showing available funds. Immigration officers rarely check this for short stays, but it is a formal entry requirement.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires within 6 months of your entry date, you will be denied boarding — no exceptions. Renew first.
No arrival card needed
Singapore scrapped the paper arrival card for most visitors. You just walk up to the immigration counter with your passport. No forms to fill.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date), print or screenshot your return ticket and first night hotel booking. Also download a local eSIM or buy a SIM at Changi Airport arrivals hall.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport (SIN)
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The immigration officer will ask your purpose of visit and how long you're staying. Answer briefly and honestly.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day visit pass. Check the stamp says '30 days' before leaving the counter. If it's shorter, ask politely why.
4
Exit baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your luggage (if any) and proceed through customs. Green channel if nothing to declare. You're now legally in Singapore.
