From 2026, Ivory Coast passport holders need a visa for Vietnam. The simplest option is the Vietnam eVisa: single entry, up to 30 days, processed entirely online.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single entry or $50 USD for multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until you receive the approval letter.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or ticket to a third country ready. Airlines also enforce this before issuing a boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Keep a printed copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration may ask if you look under-prepared, especially on arrival without a return ticket.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Vietnam, not from the day you apply. If it expires sooner, renew it first.
eVisa is single entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Vietnam (even for a day trip), you'll need a new visa to re-enter. Plan your itinerary accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa
Go to the official Vietnam eVisa website (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $25 USD) online. Processing takes 3-5 working days. You'll receive an approval letter via email.
2
Prepare your documents
Print a copy of your eVisa approval letter, or save the PDF on your phone. Also save screenshots of your return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep your passport handy.
3
Arrive at the airport in Vietnam
At immigration, join the 'Foreigners' queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa approval. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready in case they ask.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passing immigration, collect your checked bags from the carousel. Then proceed through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're now in Vietnam.
