Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Czech passport holders get a visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and other land/sea borders. The visa costs 40 JOD (about $56 USD) for single entry, valid for 30 days. Have the exact fee in cash — the kiosk does not accept cards.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Jordan. Airlines at Prague check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. A printed itinerary or e-ticket showing your departure from Jordan within 30 days works fine.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask, but if you cannot show where you are staying, they may deny entry.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Carry at least 500 JOD (about $700 USD) in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Border officers do not always check, but they can ask to see you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Visa fee waiver for Aqaba
If you fly into Aqaba Airport and stay within the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, the visa on arrival is free. But if you leave the zone (e.g., to visit Petra or Wadi Rum), you'll need to pay the 40 JOD visa fee at the checkpoint.
Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival counter does not accept credit or debit cards. Bring 40 JOD in cash (or equivalent USD/EUR). ATMs are available after passport control, but you'll need the visa to get through — so have cash ready before you arrive.

What happens at the border

1
Land at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) or Aqaba Airport
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. There's a dedicated counter before the passport control booths. Join the queue, hand over your passport and the fee. You'll get a sticker in your passport and an entry stamp. The whole process takes 5–15 minutes.
2
Proceed to passport control
With the visa sticker in hand, go to the passport control line. The officer will check your passport, visa, and may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking. Answer briefly and honestly. They'll stamp you in.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's no arrival card to fill. You're free to enter Jordan.

Frequently asked questions

40 Jordanian Dinars (JOD) for a single-entry visa. If you're staying more than 3 nights, the fee is often waived if you book through a licensed tour operator — but you still need to go through the visa-on-arrival process. Pay in cash (JOD, USD, or EUR accepted).
Yes, you can extend your 30-day visa once for an additional 30 days. Go to the Immigration Department in Amman (near the 7th Circle) or any police station in major cities. The extension fee is about 20 JOD. You'll need your passport, a passport photo, and the visa extension form.
If you're staying airside and your connecting flight is within 12 hours, you don't need a visa. If you want to leave the airport or have a longer layover, you'll need the visa on arrival.
Yes. The King Hussein Bridge (Allenby) and the Yitzhak Rabin/Wadi Araba crossing both offer visa on arrival for Czech citizens. The process is the same as at the airport — pay 40 JOD cash, get your stamp. Note that the King Hussein Bridge is for tourists only (no commercial vehicles) and closes earlier (around 8 PM).
You will be denied boarding by the airline and refused entry by Jordanian immigration. Renew your passport before traveling. There are no exceptions.
Not officially required for the visa on arrival, but it's strongly recommended. Jordan's healthcare system is decent but private hospitals require upfront payment or proof of insurance. A basic travel insurance policy covering medical evacuation is cheap and worth it.
Yes. Aqaba Airport is part of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ). The visa on arrival is free if you're staying in the ASEZ area (Aqaba city and surrounding resorts). If you plan to travel outside the zone (e.g., to Petra or Amman), you'll need the standard 40 JOD visa. The immigration officer will ask your plans.
