Czech passport holders need a visa to enter Kenya. You must apply online for an eVisa before you travel — there are no visas on arrival for tourists. Plan ahead, as processing can take a few business days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need a visa to enter Kenya. Apply online at the Kenya eTA portal — the process takes about 15 minutes and costs around $30 USD. Most applications are approved within 2–3 business days, but apply at least a week before your flight to be safe.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your stay
Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Kenya does not formally require 6 months of validity beyond your stay, but airlines often enforce it — if your passport expires within 3 months of travel, renew it before booking.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at JKIA ask for proof of onward travel every time. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Officers sometimes ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked hotel. Have a booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your stay. Carry a bank statement or credit card statement showing at least $500 USD for a short trip.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Kenya does not offer visas on arrival for Czech citizens. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Apply at least a week in advance.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you arrive in Kenya, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Kenya eVisa website (etakenya.go.ke) and fill out the application. You'll need a digital passport photo, your passport details, flight info, and accommodation. Pay the fee (around $30-50 depending on visa type) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2-5 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with a PDF. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll show it at check-in and on arrival in Kenya.
3
Arrive at JKIA or other entry point
At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi) or Moi International Airport (Mombasa), follow signs to immigration. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer may ask a few questions — be clear and polite. You'll get an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days.
