Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Danish passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Taiwan. Taiwan does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but some airlines may still enforce that rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Taiwan
Immigration officers at Taoyuan Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. This applies even for short stays.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Taiwan covers this. Keep a copy on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your stay. A bank statement or credit card with a reasonable limit usually satisfies the officer. No fixed amount is published, but having at least 500 USD equivalent is safe.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Taiwan. Airlines check this before boarding — if you're short, you won't fly.
No visa extension available
The 90-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. Plan your trip carefully and leave before the 90 days are up to avoid fines and entry bans.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Taoyuan or Songshan airport
Most flights land at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' — there are separate queues for visa-free travellers. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Fill out arrival card (if required)
You may be given an arrival card on the plane or at immigration. Fill it out with your passport details, flight number, and accommodation address. Keep it with your passport.
3
Present documents at immigration counter
Hand over your passport and arrival card. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
4
Collect luggage and proceed through customs
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel. Customs is usually green channel (nothing to declare) unless you have restricted items. Walk through and you're done.
