Spanish passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Cambodia. As of 2026, you simply show up at the airport or land border, pay the fee, and receive a 30-day tourist visa. No need to apply in advance.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at evisa.gov.kh for a tourist eVisa at $30 USD. Processing takes 3 working days — do not wait until the last minute. You can also get a visa on arrival at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville airports for the same $30 USD, but bring cash in crisp USD bills.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Spanish passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your entry date into Cambodia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cambodia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a flight out of Cambodia within your visa period. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready — they will check it before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration rarely asks for it, but budget airlines sometimes request it at check-in.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card statement ready. Immigration almost never asks for it, but it is a legal requirement under Cambodian immigration rules.Recommended
Cash only — no cards or euros
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in US dollars cash. ATMs are available after immigration, but you need cash before the counter. Bring small bills ($1, $5, $10, $20) — they rarely have change for $100 notes.
Photo booth available but costs extra
If you forget a passport photo, there's usually a photo booth near the visa counter at major airports. It costs about $2–$3 and takes 2 minutes. Saves you a headache if you arrive unprepared.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airport
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' — it's usually before the main immigration counters. At land borders, look for the visa office before the passport control booth.
2
Fill out the arrival card and visa application form
You'll get two forms on the plane or at the counter. Fill in your details, passport number, and hotel address. Keep it simple — no need for exact street names.
3
Submit your passport, photo, and fee
Hand everything to the officer at the visa counter. They'll take your passport, photo, and $30 (tourist) or $35 (business). Wait 5–15 minutes while they process it.
4
Collect your passport with visa sticker
When your name is called, collect your passport. Check the visa sticker — make sure the dates and your name are correct. Then proceed to the immigration queue for entry stamp.
5
Pass through immigration
Present your passport with the new visa sticker, your arrival card, and your boarding pass. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the departure card stub — you'll need it when leaving.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, but not at the airport. You can extend a tourist visa once for an additional 30 days at the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh (cost around $45–$50). For longer stays, get a business visa on arrival ($35) and extend it for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months through a visa agency.
Yes, same process at major land crossings like Poipet (from Thailand), Bavet (from Vietnam), and Cham Yeam (from Thailand). Look for the visa office before passport control. Fees are the same — $30 tourist, $35 business. Some smaller crossings may not offer visa on arrival, so stick to the main ones.
Yes, Cambodia offers an e-visa for $36 (plus processing fee) at evisa.gov.kh. It's valid for 30 days and lets you skip the visa queue at the airport. Processing takes 3 business days. You still need to show the e-visa printout at immigration.
Overstay costs $10 per day, paid at immigration when you leave. If you overstay more than 30 days, you may be blacklisted. It's cheaper and easier to extend before your visa expires.
Yes — immigration wants proof you'll leave Cambodia within 30 days. A bus or train ticket to a neighboring country works, or a flight out. If you don't have one, they may deny the visa on arrival.
Yes, at Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH), Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport (SAI), and Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS). All three have dedicated visa on arrival counters.
No — only US dollars cash. Euros or other currencies are not accepted. Credit cards are not accepted at the visa counter. Bring exact change if possible.
