eVisa application
Vietnam eVisa
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD, and processing takes 3 working days. You can choose single or multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Spanish passport needs to be valid for at least the full 45 days you plan to stay in Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
While not always checked, having a printed hotel reservation or a letter from your host can speed up the immigration process. Officers in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City sometimes ask for it.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Carry at least $500 USD or equivalent in cash or a credit card statement. Immigration officers rarely ask, but having proof avoids any issues if questioned.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity at check-in. If you have less than 6 months left, you won't be allowed to board. Double-check before you go.
45 days starts the day you land
Your visa-free stay begins the moment you pass immigration. Count 45 calendar days from that date — not from your departure date.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, check your passport has 6+ months validity and at least 1 blank page. Print or screenshot your return ticket and first night hotel booking.
2
Arrive at the airport in Vietnam
At Hanoi (HAN), Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), or Da Nang (DAD), follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Arrivals'. Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue.
3
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport and boarding pass. The officer may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking. Answer clearly and politely.
4
Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with a 45-day visa-free entry. Check the stamp says '45 days' before walking away. Keep the stamp visible until you leave.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel and walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're in.
