Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Spanish passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Taiwan. Taiwan does not require 6 months of remaining validity beyond your departure date, but your airline might enforce their own 6-month rule — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Taiwan
Immigration officers at Taoyuan Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound booking ready — they want to see you leave within the 90-day visa-free period.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers sometimes ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address and phone number covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Taiwan doesn't publish a fixed minimum, but having access to around 500 EUR per week in cash, card, or bank statement keeps things smooth. I've never been asked, but a friend was once pulled aside for showing only 200 EUR.Recommended
Visa-free entry is for 90 days
The 90-day period starts from the day you enter Taiwan. You cannot extend it. Plan your departure accordingly.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiry, renew it before you go.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (or other entry point)
Go to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer will check your passport validity, ask your purpose of visit, and may request your return ticket or accommodation. They'll stamp your passport with a 90-day entry permit.
2
Fill out the arrival card (if not using e-Gate)
On the plane or at the airport, fill in the blue arrival card with your flight number, passport details, and address in Taiwan. Keep the departure portion — you'll hand it in when you leave.
3
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your luggage. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. Red channel for goods over NT$20,000 or restricted items.
