Hong Kong passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Cambodia. You'll pay $30 USD for a tourist visa (30 days) or $35 USD for a business visa (30 days) at the airport. This policy has been in place for years and remains unchanged in 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Visa on arrival or eVisa
You can get a visa on arrival at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville airports — bring $30 USD in cash and a passport photo. Or apply online at evisa.gov.kh for $30 USD, which lets you skip the visa-on-arrival line. The eVisa is valid for a single entry up to 30 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Hong Kong passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your entry date into Cambodia. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers at the visa-on-arrival counter will ask to see a flight out of Cambodia within 30 days. Budget airlines flying into Phnom Penh and Siem Reap also check this at check-in. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Immigration rarely asks for it, but the visa-on-arrival form asks for your hotel name and address. Have a booking confirmation or a written invitation from your host ready to show if asked.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Officially you need to show at least $1,000 USD or equivalent for your stay. In practice, they rarely ask — but if you look underprepared, they might. Carry $300–$500 USD in cash to be safe.Recommended
Cash only — no cards or other currencies
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in US dollars cash. ATMs are available after immigration, but not before. Bring exact change if possible — officers may not have change for large bills.
Photo service available at airport
If you forget a passport photo, the visa counter has a photo booth for about $2–5 USD. But it adds 5–10 minutes to your wait. Bring your own to breeze through.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out forms on the plane
You'll receive an immigration arrival card and a visa application form. Fill them out in pen (blue or black ink). Have your passport and flight details handy.
2
Queue at the 'Visa on Arrival' counter
At Phnom Penh (PNH) or Siem Reap (REP) airports, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival'. Hand over your passport, completed forms, photo, and $30/$35 USD. The officer will process it in 5–10 minutes.
3
Collect your passport with visa sticker
Once processed, you'll get your passport back with a visa sticker inside. Check the validity dates before walking away.
4
Proceed to immigration
Join the immigration queue. Present your passport (with visa), arrival card, and boarding pass. They may ask for your return ticket — show the screenshot.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. You're in.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — Phnom Penh International (PNH), Siem Reap–Angkor International (REP), and Sihanoukville International (KOS) all offer visa on arrival for Hong Kong passport holders. Land borders also offer it, but some crossings are less reliable — stick to major ones like Poipet or Bavet.
Tourist visa: $30 USD. Business visa: $35 USD. Both are valid for 30 days. Only US dollars are accepted — no other currencies or credit cards.
No — the visa on arrival is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to leave and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before travel (e.g., an e-visa or a visa from a Cambodian embassy).
Yes — immigration wants proof you'll leave Cambodia. A bus ticket to Vietnam, Thailand, or Laos works. A flight out is also fine. Just have something booked.
No problem — most visa-on-arrival counters have a photo service for about $2–5 USD. But it adds time. Bring your own to skip the queue.
Yes — Hong Kong passport holders can apply for a Cambodia e-visa online before travel. It costs $36 USD plus a processing fee, takes 3 business days, and lets you skip the visa-on-arrival queue. But you still need to queue at immigration. The visa on arrival is usually faster.
Very low for Hong Kong passport holders with a valid passport, return ticket, and clean record. Denials are rare unless you have a criminal record, invalid passport, or no onward ticket.
