Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Morocco. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Overstaying your visa-free period costs 100 MAD per day (about $10), paid at the airport departure counter.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Casablanca and Marrakech airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. A bus or ferry ticket out of Morocco also satisfies this requirement.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a signed letter from your host with their address and phone number. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card for your stay
Have at least 500 MAD (about $50) in cash or a credit card visible to show you can cover daily expenses. Morocco is cash-heavy — bring euros or dollars to exchange at banks or authorized bureaux de change.Recommended
90-day clock starts on arrival
Your 90-day visa-free period begins the moment you get your entry stamp. It's cumulative across all visits — not per trip. If you stay 30 days, leave for a week, and come back, you only have 60 days left.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity before boarding. If your passport expires within 6 months of your entry date, you may be denied boarding even if you have a valid ticket. Renew early.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Moroccan immigration
At any Moroccan airport (Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, etc.), follow signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Étrangers' (Foreigners). Queues can be long at peak hours — expect 20–40 minutes.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your Hungarian passport. The officer will check your photo, validity, and blank page. They rarely ask questions for EU passport holders, but be ready for 'How long are you staying?' and 'Where are you staying?'
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with a tourist entry stamp valid for up to 90 days. No fee, no form. That's it — you're in.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, pick up your bags from the carousel, then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel unless you have goods to declare. No customs form required for most tourists.

Frequently asked questions

No, tourist stays are not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you must leave Morocco before day 90 and re-enter. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
No. If you're transiting through a Moroccan airport and staying airside (not passing immigration), you don't need a visa. If you want to leave the airport, you enter as a tourist — visa-free for up to 90 days.
You'll likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry by Moroccan immigration. Renew your passport before traveling. The 6-month rule is strictly enforced.
No. Entry is free for Hungarian passport holders. There's no tourist tax at the airport. Some hotels charge a small city tax (around 10–20 MAD per night), but that's paid at the hotel, not at immigration.
Officially, no. The tourist visa does not permit any form of work, including remote work for a foreign employer. In practice, many digital nomads do it quietly, but technically it's not allowed. Morocco has a digital nomad visa program (since 2023), but it's separate from the tourist entry.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll be fined at the airport when leaving — typically 200–300 MAD per day over. In extreme cases, you could be banned from re-entering Morocco for a period. Don't risk it.
No mandatory vaccinations for Hungarian travelers. However, routine vaccines (hepatitis A, typhoid) are recommended. No yellow fever certificate required unless you're arriving from an endemic country.
