United States entry requirements for Israel passport holders
Israeli passport holders need a visa to enter the United States. For tourism or business visits under 90 days, you must apply for an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) online before departure. As of 2026, this is the standard process for Israeli citizens.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| ESTA authorization (eVisa)ESTA is not a visa but a travel authorization; you must have it approved before you fly. Apply before departure | Israeli citizens must obtain an approved ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before boarding a flight to the U.S. The application is online at the official ESTA website (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/), costs US$40.27 ($4.00 processing + $36.27 authorization), and is often approved instantly, but allow up to 72 hours for processing. | Required |
| Passport validityIf your passport expires sooner, you may be denied boarding or entry. Valid for at least 6 months beyond stay | Your Israeli passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay in the U.S. (i.e., until at least 6 months after your planned departure date). | Required |
| Blank passport pagesThe U.S. border officer will stamp your passport; without a blank page you could be refused entry. At least 1 blank page | Your passport must have at least one blank page for the U.S. entry stamp. It is recommended to have more than one blank page to avoid issues. | Required |
| Return or onward ticketCarrying proof of onward travel helps demonstrate you will not overstay. Not explicitly required but strongly advised | While U.S. regulations do not explicitly require a return or onward ticket for ESTA travelers, border officers may ask for evidence of your intention to leave the U.S. within 90 days. Having a return or onward ticket is strongly recommended. | Recommended |
| Proof of fundsBorder officers may ask how you will fund your trip; being able to show means is prudent. Not explicitly required but may be requested | U.S. law does not require a specific amount of funds for short visits, but you should be able to show you can cover your expenses during your stay. Having a credit card or bank statement is advisable. | Recommended |
| Arrival declarationYou do not need to fill out any additional arrival form beyond the customs declaration given on the flight. Not required | No separate arrival declaration is required for Israeli citizens entering the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA). | Not required |
| Visa extensionThere is no way to extend your stay under ESTA; overstaying can lead to serious consequences. Not possible | The ESTA authorization allows a maximum stay of 90 days and cannot be extended. You must depart the U.S. before the 90-day period ends. | Not required |

Transiting through United States
Israeli citizens transiting the US are generally eligible for the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA) for transit purposes. If you are not eligible for ESTA (e.g., due to prior travel to certain countries), you may need a C-1 transit visa.
- If you have been present in or are a citizen of a country designated as a state sponsor of terrorism (e.g., Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, North Korea, Cuba) since March 1, 2011, you are not eligible for ESTA and must apply for a C-1 transit visa.
- If you have a valid US visa, you can transit without ESTA.
