Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus

Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Indonesia. Airlines check this at check-in and won't let you board if it's close.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Jakarta and Bali routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're staying at a private residence.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least $1,000 USD or equivalent in cash, traveler's checks, or a bank statement. Immigration rarely asks, but it's better to have it ready.Recommended
No visa on arrival for Iraqi citizens
You cannot get a visa at the airport. The eVisa must be approved before you fly. Apply at least a week in advance.
Overstay penalty is steep
Overstaying even one day costs 1,000,000 IDR (about $65 USD) per day. Set a reminder to leave before your 30 days are up.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to molina.imigrasi.go.id, fill in your details, upload your passport scan and photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days.
2
Print your eVisa approval
Once approved, print the eVisa letter or save a clear PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Indonesian immigration
At the airport, head to the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. You'll be fingerprinted and photographed. Keep your boarding pass handy.
4
Collect your passport stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date. Check the stamp says the correct duration (usually 30 days). If it's wrong, ask immediately.
