Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply online at evisa.gov.kh at least 3 business days before travel. The eVisa costs $30 USD and allows a single entry for up to 30 days. Print the approval letter and bring it with your passport to immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond arrival
Your passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Cambodia. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight within 30 days. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for it during the visa on arrival process, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely asks, but having cash in USD is useful for the $30 visa fee and for paying for taxis, food, and accommodation.Recommended
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa-on-arrival counter takes only US dollars cash. Bring crisp, undamaged bills — torn or marked notes will be refused. There are ATMs after immigration, but you can't use them to pay for the visa.
Photo booths available but slow
If you forget a passport photo, there are photo booths at both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports. They cost about US$3–5 and add 5–10 minutes to your queue. Save time by bringing your own.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out the arrival form on the plane
You'll get a Cambodia Arrival/Departure card and a visa application form from the flight crew. Fill them out in capital letters. Keep your passport photo and cash handy.
2
Go to the Visa on Arrival counter
After deplaning at Phnom Penh (PNH) or Siem Reap (REP), follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival'. Join the queue. Hand over your passport, completed forms, photo, and US$30.
3
Wait and collect your passport
They'll process your visa — usually 10–20 minutes. They'll call your name or hold up your passport. Check the visa sticker for correct dates before walking away.
4
Proceed to immigration
Take your passport with the new visa sticker to the immigration counter. They'll stamp you in. Keep the departure card stub — you'll need it when you leave.
