What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Gather all required documents: valid passport, completed visa application form, passport-sized photos, travel insurance, flight itinerary, accommodation bookings, bank statements, and any additional documents requested by the embassy.
2
Submit your application
Book an appointment at the Dutch embassy or consulate in Amman (or the nearest Schengen visa application center). Submit your application in person — fingerprints are taken for the visa. Pay the visa fee (currently €80 for adults, reduced for children).
3
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 15 calendar days, but can extend to 45 days if additional checks are needed. Do not book non-refundable travel until you have the visa.
4
Collect your passport
Once approved, your passport with the visa sticker will be returned to you. Check the visa dates and conditions carefully.
5
Arrive in the Netherlands
At Schiphol Airport or any Schengen border, present your passport with the visa. The officer may ask about your trip, accommodation, and return ticket. Answer clearly and honestly.
