Kuwaiti passport holders need a visa to enter Kenya. You must apply for an e-Visa online before you travel. This requirement is in effect for 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Kenya eVisa at the official eTA portal. The process takes about 15 minutes — upload your passport scan, a passport photo, and flight itinerary. Approval usually comes within 2–3 business days, but apply at least a week before departure to be safe.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Kenya does not enforce the 6-month validity rule — as long as your passport is valid for the duration of your stay, you're fine. Airlines sometimes check for 6 months, so check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration will ask for it
Kenya immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel at the counter. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without it, you risk being denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked itinerary. A simple booking.com confirmation works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card ready showing you have enough money for your trip. There's no fixed minimum, but around $500 USD for a week-long visit is a safe benchmark. Immigration rarely asks, but it's better to have it.Recommended
e-Visa is mandatory
All Kuwaiti passport holders must obtain an e-Visa before traveling to Kenya. There is no visa-free entry or visa on arrival option for Kuwaiti citizens. Apply online at etakenya.go.ke at least a week before departure.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Kenya. Airlines will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner. Check your passport now.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to the official Kenya e-Visa website (etakenya.go.ke) and fill out the application. You'll need a digital passport photo, passport scan, flight itinerary, and accommodation proof. Pay the fee online. Processing takes 2-5 business days.
2
Receive e-Visa via email
Once approved, you'll get a PDF e-Visa by email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. The visa is usually valid for 90 days from issue, for a single entry.
3
Arrive at JKIA or other entry point
At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi) or other land/sea borders, go to the 'Visas on Arrival' counter if you have an e-Visa. Present your passport, printed e-Visa, and return ticket. You'll get an entry stamp. The process takes 5-15 minutes if you have all documents ready.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. You may be asked to show your yellow fever vaccination card at health screening. Then proceed to customs (green channel if nothing to declare).
