Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter South Korea. Apply at the official Korea eVisa portal at least a few weeks before your trip — processing can take 10-14 business days. Print the eVisa approval notice and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in South Korea. Airlines may enforce a 6-month validity rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration may ask
Immigration officers at Incheon and Gimpo routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or ticket to a third country ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Officers sometimes request a hotel reservation or a letter from your host in South Korea. Keep a printed booking confirmation or a signed invitation letter handy.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
You may be asked to show you can cover your stay — a recent bank statement or around 1,000,000 KRW in cash or traveler's checks works. ATMs are widely available at airports and cities.Recommended
eVisa required — no visa on arrival
Laos passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival or visa-free entry to South Korea. You must apply and receive approval before you travel. Don't book flights until you have the eVisa in hand.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in South Korea, not from the day you apply. If your passport expires sooner, renew it first.
