If you hold a Lebanese passport and plan to visit Australia in 2026, you need an approved eVisa (subclass 601) before you travel. This electronic travel authority is linked to your passport, not a sticker or stamp. You must get approval before boarding your flight.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa (subclass 601)ETA (Australia): Electronic Travel Authority — a digital visa linked to your passport. Required for all eligible passport holders. Apply via the Australian ETA app ($20 AUD fee) before travel.
Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)
You need an ETA (subclass 601) before boarding. Apply through the official Australian ETA app — the app is free, but third-party websites charge extra fees. The $20 AUD fee is paid in the app, and approval usually comes within seconds.Apply for ETARequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Australia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Australia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready — budget airlines sometimes check this before issuing a boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and contact number. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having a booking ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least AUD 1,000 per month of stay. Immigration officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you are not working illegally.Recommended
Apply early — don't wait until the airport
The eVisa must be approved before you check in for your flight. Airlines will not let you board without it. Apply at least a week before departure to avoid last-minute issues.
Your passport expiry date matters
Count 6 months from the day you arrive in Australia, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Australian Department of Home Affairs website and complete the ETA application (subclass 601). You'll need your passport details, a valid email, and a credit/debit card for the AUD 20 fee. Approval usually comes within minutes, but allow up to 72 hours.
2
Check your approval email
Once approved, you'll receive an email with your visa grant number. Save it on your phone and print a copy. The visa is linked electronically to your passport, so you don't need a sticker.
3
Pack your documents
Bring your passport, return ticket confirmation, first night accommodation booking, and travel insurance details. Keep them in your carry-on, not checked luggage.
4
Arrive at the airport in Lebanon
At check-in, the airline will verify your eVisa status electronically. If it's not approved, you won't get a boarding pass. Show your return ticket if asked.
5
Go through immigration in Australia
At the airport in Australia, use the SmartGate kiosk if available (for ePassport holders). Otherwise, join the queue for a Border Force officer. They'll scan your passport and may ask about your trip. Answer honestly — they can check your travel history.
