Libyan passport holders need an eVisa to enter South Korea. The eVisa must be approved before you travel — there is no visa on arrival for Libyan nationals. As of 2026, the process is entirely online and typically takes a few business days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Libyan passport holders must apply for a South Korean eVisa at the official portal before travel. The eVisa is a single-entry permit valid for 90 days from issue. Processing takes 5–10 business days — apply at least two weeks before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in South Korea. South Korea does not enforce a 6-month validity rule beyond your departure date, but your airline may still require it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Incheon and Gimpo airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. A ticket to a third country also works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in South Korea ready. Immigration may ask for it if your stay is longer than a few days or if you look like you're working remotely.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least ₩1,000,000 (roughly $750 USD) for short stays. Immigration rarely asks for it, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Apply early — processing can take up to 2 weeks
Don't wait until the last minute. The eVisa processing time is 3–5 business days on average, but during peak travel seasons it can stretch to 2 weeks. Apply at least 3 weeks before your departure.
Keep a digital copy of your eVisa
Once approved, download the PDF and save it to your phone. You can also print a copy. Immigration officers can look up your eVisa by passport number, but having a copy speeds things up.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Korea Visa Portal (www.visa.go.kr) and fill out the eVisa application. You'll need to upload a passport-style photo, a scan of your passport bio page, and supporting documents like flight and hotel bookings. Pay the fee online (around 40 USD for a single-entry visa). Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Wait for approval and download the eVisa
Once approved, you'll receive an email with a link to download your eVisa. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. The eVisa is linked to your passport number — you don't need to carry the printout, but it's safer to have it.
3
Arrive at Incheon or Gimpo Airport
When you land at Incheon International Airport (or Gimpo for domestic connections), follow signs to 'Foreign Passport' immigration. Have your passport, eVisa printout (or digital copy), and return ticket ready. The officer will scan your passport, take a photo, and stamp your entry. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes.
4
Collect baggage and exit
After immigration, collect your luggage from the carousel, then proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. If you're carrying cash over 10,000 USD or restricted items, use the red channel.

Frequently asked questions

Processing typically takes 3–5 business days after you submit the application. In busy periods it can take up to 2 weeks, so apply at least 3 weeks before your trip.
No. The eVisa does not allow extensions. You must leave before your permitted stay expires. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban from re-entry.
It is not a formal requirement, but immigration officers may ask how you will support yourself during your stay. Having a credit card or a bank statement showing sufficient funds (around 50–100 USD per day) is a good idea.
Rejections are rare but can happen if documents are incomplete or if you have a criminal record. You can reapply after addressing the reason for rejection. There is no appeal process — you just submit a new application.
No. South Korea requires a regular, valid passport with at least 6 months of validity. Temporary or emergency passports are not accepted for eVisa applications.
If you are transiting and staying airside (not passing through immigration), you do not need a visa. But if you need to enter the country (e.g., to switch airports or stay overnight), you must have an eVisa.
No, travel insurance is not a mandatory requirement for the eVisa application. However, it is strongly recommended because medical costs in South Korea are high.
