New Zealand Visitor Visas for Moroccan citizens take 20–30 days on average. During peak seasons (November–February), it can take longer. Don't book non-refundable flights until your visa is approved.
Biosecurity is strict
New Zealand has some of the world's strictest biosecurity rules. Declare all food, plants, animal products, and outdoor gear (hiking boots, tents). Fines for undeclared items start at NZD 400. When in doubt, declare it.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months beyond entry), bank statements (last 3 months), return flight booking, accommodation confirmation, and a cover letter explaining your travel plans. Scan everything as PDFs.
2
Submit the online application
Go to the Immigration New Zealand website and create a RealMe account. Fill out the Visitor Visa form, upload your documents, and pay the fee (approx. NZD 246). Processing takes 20–30 days on average.
3
Wait for a decision
Check your RealMe account regularly. You may be asked for additional documents or an interview. Once approved, you'll receive a visa label or an eVisa letter — print it and carry it with your passport.
4
Arrive in New Zealand
At Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch airport, join the 'Visitors' queue. Present your passport, visa letter, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your plans and funds. Answer clearly — they're just checking you're a genuine visitor.
5
Complete the New Zealand Traveller Declaration
Before landing, fill out the online declaration (free) at travellerdeclaration.govt.nz. You'll get a QR code to show at biosecurity. Declare any food, outdoor gear, or animal products honestly — fines are steep.
