Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at evisa.gov.kh for a tourist eVisa ($30 USD, single entry, 30 days). Processing takes 3 working days. You can also get a visa on arrival at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville airports — bring $30 USD in cash and a passport photo.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Mexican passport needs at least 6 months validity beyond your departure date from Cambodia. Airlines check this at check-in. One blank page required for the visa sticker.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a flight out of Cambodia within 30 days. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready. Overstay fines are $10 USD per day.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your first night's hotel confirmation or host's address ready. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing available funds. Immigration rarely checks this for short stays, but it helps if asked.Recommended
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in US dollars cash. ATMs at Cambodian airports dispense local currency (riel), not dollars. Bring $30–$50 USD in small bills from home.
E-visa alternative
If you want to skip the visa-on-arrival queue, apply for an e-visa online before you travel. It costs $36 USD and takes 3 business days. You still need to show it at immigration, but you bypass the visa counter entirely.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at entry point
Go to the 'Visa on Arrival' counter at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville airport, or at major land borders like Poipet (from Thailand) or Bavet (from Vietnam).
2
Fill out the application form
Grab a form at the counter. It asks for basic info: name, passport number, flight number, hotel address. Fill it in with a black pen. Keep your photo handy to attach.
3
Submit documents and pay
Hand over your passport, the completed form, your photo, and $30 cash. The officer will process it — usually takes 5–15 minutes.
4
Collect your passport with visa
They'll call your name or hand it back. Check the visa sticker: it should say 'T-class' (tourist) and show the entry/exit dates. You're good to go.
5
Proceed to immigration
Walk to the immigration counters with your passport and visa. They'll stamp you in. Keep the arrival card they give you — you'll need it when you leave.

Frequently asked questions

The tourist visa (T-class) allows a stay of 30 days. It can be extended once for an additional 30 days at the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh or through a travel agent. The extension costs around $45–$50 USD.
Yes. Major land borders like Poipet (from Thailand), Bavet (from Vietnam), and Cham Yeam (from Thailand) all issue visas on arrival. The process is the same as at airports — same fee, same documents.
Most airports and land borders have a photo booth or a service that takes photos for a small fee (usually $2–$5 USD). It adds a few minutes to the process, so it's easier to bring your own.
No. The visa on arrival fee must be paid in US dollars cash. Some counters may accept Cambodian riel at a poor exchange rate, but cash USD is the standard. Have small bills — $20s and $10s are fine.
Yes — you need proof that you will leave Cambodia within 30 days. A bus ticket to Vietnam or Thailand, or a flight out, counts. A screenshot or printout is fine.
Overstay costs $10 USD per day, capped at $500 USD. You pay at immigration when you leave. It's not a criminal issue, but it's expensive — better to extend or leave on time.
Yes, Cambodia offers an e-visa for $36 USD (as of 2026). It's processed in 3 business days and lets you skip the visa-on-arrival queue. You still need to show the e-visa at immigration. It's a good option if you want to save time at the airport.
