Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond departure
Your Mexican passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat routinely ask for a flight out of Vietnam. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it speeds up the process if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Officers can ask for proof you can support yourself during your stay. A bank statement showing at least $500 USD or the equivalent in cash is usually enough.Recommended
Visa-free entry is for 45 days only
Mexican passport holders get 45 days visa-free. If you plan to stay longer, you must apply for an eVisa before you travel. Overstaying even one day can result in fines and future entry bans.
eVisa available online
For stays over 45 days, apply for an eVisa at the official government website. It costs about $25 USD and takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and bring it with you.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
Land at any international airport in Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, etc.). Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Arrivals'.
2
Fill in the arrival form
You'll get a small white card on the plane or at the immigration counter. Fill in your name, passport number, flight number, and address of your first night's stay. Keep it simple.
3
Queue at immigration
Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, completed arrival card, and return ticket ready. The officer checks your passport, stamps it, and hands it back. This usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to enter Vietnam.
