Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your Nigerian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into the Philippines. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa holders
Immigration officers at Manila, Cebu, and Clark airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or digital booking ready — they may deny entry if you cannot show one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Bring a hotel confirmation or a notarized letter of invitation from your host in the Philippines. Immigration may ask for it during the visa application process or at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a recent bank statement showing at least ₱50,000 PHP (approx. $900 USD) or equivalent in cash. Immigration officers may ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Visa required — apply early
Nigerian passport holders cannot enter the Philippines without a pre-approved visa. Start your application at least 3 weeks before travel. Processing delays happen, especially during peak seasons.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you arrive in the Philippines, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the visa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your visa online
Go to evisa.gov.ph, create an account, and fill out the application. Upload your passport scan, photo, and supporting documents. Pay the visa fee (around ₱1,500–₱3,000 depending on type). Processing takes 5–15 business days.
2
Receive your visa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with a visa sticker or approval letter. Print it out and keep a digital copy on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in the Philippines.
3
Arrive at a Philippine airport
At Manila (NAIA), Cebu, or Clark, go to the Foreign Passport queue. Present your passport, visa approval, return ticket, and accommodation proof. The officer may ask about your itinerary — answer clearly. They'll stamp you in for up to 30 days.
