Schengen visa covers all 27 countries
A Swedish Schengen visa lets you travel to any Schengen country (France, Germany, Italy, etc.) for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. But your main destination must be Sweden.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a Schengen visa
Submit your application online through the Swedish Migration Agency or VFS Global. Then book an appointment at the Swedish embassy or consulate in Kathmandu. Bring all required documents — passport, photos, bank statements, insurance, flight and hotel bookings.
2
Attend the visa interview
Show up at the embassy on time. They'll take your fingerprints and photo, ask about your trip, and collect your passport. Processing takes 15–30 days, so apply at least 4 weeks before travel.
3
Collect your passport
Once processed, you'll get your passport back with the visa sticker. Check the dates — the visa is valid for the exact days you requested. If you need to change anything, you must reapply.
4
Arrive at a Swedish airport
At passport control, hand over your passport with the visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket, hotel booking, and proof of funds. Answer clearly and honestly. If everything checks out, you'll get a stamp and be let in.

Yes, you fill out the application online via the Swedish Migration Agency or VFS Global portal. But you still need to attend an in-person appointment at the embassy in Kathmandu to submit documents and give biometrics.
The visa fee is €80 for adults (about NPR 11,500). Children 6–12 pay €40. There's also a service fee from VFS Global (around NPR 2,000–3,000). Fees are non-refundable.
You can appeal the decision within 30 days. Write to the embassy explaining why you think the rejection was wrong. Alternatively, reapply with stronger documents — more bank statements, a clearer itinerary, or a letter from your employer.
Immigration officers can ask for it. Have bank statements or a credit card ready. A good rule: carry at least €50–100 per day of your stay in cash or available credit.

Overstaying can get you banned from the Schengen area for up to 5 years. You'll also face fines and deportation. Always leave on time.
