Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Turkey. Airlines at check-in may ask for at least 6 months validity beyond your departure date, but Turkish immigration only requires validity covering your stay.Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended for visa-free entry
Immigration officers at Istanbul Airport and other entry points routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready to show.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Immigration can ask for evidence you can support yourself during your stay. A recent bank statement or a credit card with sufficient limit works.Recommended
90-day limit resets after 180 days
You can stay up to 90 days total in any 180-day period. Once you leave, the clock resets after 180 days from your first entry. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban.
No visa needed — just show up
Omani passport holders have visa-free access to Turkey. No application, no fee, no waiting. Just a valid passport and a return ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Turkish border
At any airport, land border, or seaport, join the foreign passport queue. At Istanbul Airport, that's the 'Foreign Passports' line — usually well-signed. Have your passport ready.
2
Hand over your passport
The immigration officer will scan your passport, check your face against the photo, and stamp you in. They may ask your purpose of visit and where you're staying. Answer briefly and honestly.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Walk through the green channel unless you have goods to declare.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free stay is strictly 90 days within any 180-day period. You cannot extend it while in Turkey. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a residence permit before your 90 days expire — that's a separate process handled by the Turkish immigration office (Göç İdaresi).
Not usually. Turkish immigration rarely asks for bank statements or cash. But if you look like you might overstay or have no means of support, they can ask. Having a credit card and a return ticket is usually enough.
No. Visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, or short visits only. You cannot take up employment. For work, you need a work permit arranged by your Turkish employer before you arrive.
You'll be denied entry. Turkish immigration enforces the 6-month rule strictly. Renew your passport before you travel.
No. Turkey no longer requires an arrival card for most nationalities, including Omanis. Just hand over your passport.
No. Your passport must be valid on the day you enter. An expired passport will be rejected.
No. Omanis don't need a visa at all, so there's no visa on arrival. If you're denied entry for any reason (e.g., invalid passport), you'll be sent back on the next flight.
