Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Singapore immigration enforces the 6-month passport validity rule strictly. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding or entry. Carry a photocopy of your passport bio page as backup.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket within 30 days. Budget airlines check this at check-in too. A same-day ferry or bus ticket to Malaysia works if you are continuing overland.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration rarely asks for it, but if you cannot show where you are staying, expect extra questions.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement
Carry at least 1,000 SGD in cash or show a bank statement with a similar balance. Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your stay. A credit card with a decent limit usually satisfies them.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity at check-in. If it is less than 6 months from your entry date, you will not be allowed to board. Double-check before you go.
No visa needed, but have documents ready
You do not need to apply for anything in advance, but immigration officers can ask for proof of onward travel and accommodation. Keep digital copies on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry), print or screenshot your return ticket and first night hotel booking. Get travel insurance and a local eSIM if you want.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport or other entry point
At Changi Airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. Join the queue for foreign passport holders. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
3
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you are staying. Answer clearly. They may also ask for your return ticket. You will get an entry stamp valid for up to 30 days.
4
Collect baggage and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. You are free to enter Singapore.
