Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single entry or $50 USD for multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond departure
Your Polish passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers in Vietnam routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight out of the country. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — if you cannot show one, you may be refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your hotel reservation or host's address and contact details ready. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement
Carry at least $500 USD or equivalent in cash, or have a credit/debit card with available balance. Immigration officers occasionally ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
eVisa is single entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Vietnam (e.g., for a day trip to Cambodia), you'll need a new eVisa to re-enter.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Vietnam, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Vietnam eVisa portal (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $25 USD) with a credit card. Processing takes 3-5 working days.
2
Receive and print eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa attached as a PDF. Print it in colour or save it on your phone. Keep a physical copy in your bag just in case.
3
Arrive at Vietnamese airport
At the airport (e.g., Noi Bai in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City), follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass ready.
4
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer will check your details, stamp your passport, and return it. This usually takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Smile and be polite.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. You're in Vietnam.
