Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Morocco. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Overstaying your visa-free period costs 100 MAD per day (about $10 USD), paid at the airport departure counter.Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended
Immigration officers at Casablanca and Marrakech airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without one, you may be questioned and could be refused entry.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from your host in Morocco can speed up the immigration process. Officers occasionally ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry enough cash or a credit card to cover your stay — around 500 MAD per day ($50 USD) is a safe benchmark. Immigration rarely checks, but having a bank statement or cash on hand avoids problems if asked.Recommended
No visa needed — but don't skip the basics
Romanian passport holders get 90 days visa-free in Morocco. No forms, no fees. But immigration still checks your passport validity (6 months) and may ask for a return ticket. Have both ready.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at immigration
At any Moroccan airport (Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, etc.), follow signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Étrangers' (Foreigners). There are separate queues for Moroccan citizens and foreigners — join the foreigners line.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Have them ready on your phone or printed. They'll stamp your passport and you're in — no visa fee, no forms.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel for nothing to declare, red channel if you have goods over the duty-free limit. That's it.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free stay is strictly 90 days and cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to leave and re-enter, but doing this repeatedly may raise questions. For stays over 90 days, apply for a residence permit from the Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale before your 90 days expire — this is not guaranteed and requires a valid reason.
No. There is no online pre-registration or arrival declaration required for Romanian citizens. Just show up at the airport with your passport and ticket.
You will be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at immigration. Renew your passport before traveling. There are no exceptions.
No. Morocco requires a valid passport for all foreign nationals. A national ID card or driver's license is not accepted.
No. Entry is completely free — no visa, no fee, no forms. Just a passport stamp.
Overstaying can result in a fine of 200–300 MAD per day overstay, a ban from re-entering Morocco, or both. The fine is paid at the airport immigration office before departure. Avoid overstaying.
No. If you're transiting through a Moroccan airport and staying airside (not passing through immigration), you don't need a visa. But if you want to leave the airport during a layover, you'll need to go through immigration — which is visa-free for up to 90 days.
