Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Romanian passport only needs to be valid for the length of your stay in Taiwan. Airlines sometimes enforce a 6-month validity rule, so check with your carrier before departure.
Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Taiwan
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. A flight booking out of Taiwan within 90 days satisfies this requirement.
Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask, but it speeds things up if they do.
Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a credit card or bank statement showing enough funds for your stay. No fixed amount is published, but having access to a few hundred USD per day is safe.
Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Taiwan, not from your departure date. If it's close, check before you book.
No visa needed for 90 days
Romanian passport holders get visa-free access for up to 90 days. No application, no fee — just show up with a valid passport and a return ticket.
What happens at the border
1
Arrive at Taoyuan or Songshan airport
You'll go through immigration at Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) or Songshan (TSA). Follow signs for 'Foreigners' — there are separate queues for visa-free and visa holders.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport and the arrival card (you'll fill it out on the plane or at a kiosk). The officer will check your passport validity and may ask about your return ticket.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with 'Visitor' and a date 90 days out. That's your allowed stay. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. Green channel if nothing to declare, red if you have goods over NT$20,000 or restricted items.
Enter your arrival date and we'll tell you exactly when you need to leave.
