Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Serbian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Iceland. Schengen rules do not require 6 months beyond departure, but your airline may enforce it — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at Keflavík will ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation, hostel booking, or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need a clear address and contact.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 100 EUR per day of your stay. Officers at Keflavík rarely check this for short visits, but it's safer to have it.Recommended
Schengen 90/180-day rule
Your 90-day visa-free stay applies to the entire Schengen area, not just Iceland. Days spent in France, Germany, Spain, etc., all count. Use the Schengen calculator to track your days.
No visa needed for 2026
Serbian passport holders can enter Iceland visa-free for up to 90 days. No application, no fee, no appointment needed. Just show up with a valid passport and onward ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Keflavík International Airport
After landing, follow signs to passport control. There are separate queues for EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA passengers. As a Serbian passport holder, join the non-EU/EEA queue. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer may ask about your trip purpose and accommodation. The process usually takes 2-5 minutes.
2
Border check
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your visa-free eligibility and may stamp your passport. They might ask for proof of onward travel or accommodation. Answer clearly and briefly. If everything is in order, you'll be waved through.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim. Then walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). No additional forms or fees for visa-free entry.
