Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Egypt. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Egypt
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Cairo Airport. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone showing your departure flight within the 180-day visa-free period.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Egypt. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have access to at least $1,000 USD or equivalent in cash, credit card, or bank statement. Immigration rarely asks for it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Visa-free entry confirmed
Saudi passport holders do not need a visa for Egypt. You can stay up to 180 days per visit. No application, no fee, no waiting.
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it expires sooner, renew it before you fly. This is strictly enforced.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save screenshots of your return ticket, hotel booking, and passport info page on your phone. Also keep printed copies in your carry-on. This covers you if your phone dies or gets lost.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you fly
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone. Consider getting travel insurance and a local eSIM.
2
Arrive at Cairo International Airport or other entry points
At the airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Immigration'. Have your passport, boarding pass, and any supporting documents (return ticket, hotel booking) ready. There are separate queues for foreigners and Egyptians — join the foreigners queue.
3
Present your passport and answer the officer's questions
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask the purpose of your visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly. They will stamp your passport with a visa-free entry valid for up to 180 days.
4
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After passport control, go to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. Keep your passport and any receipts handy.
