Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Morocco
Morocco strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Overstay fines run 100 MAD per day (about $10), paid at the airport before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Morocco
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. A flight reservation or bus/ferry booking out of Morocco works. Without one, you risk being refused entry and sent back on the next flight.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Have your first night's hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask, but if they do and you have nothing, they may deny entry. A simple Booking.com reservation printed or on your phone works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement showing you can support yourself
Morocco does not publish a minimum amount, but carrying around 500–1,000 MAD in cash (about $50–$100) plus a credit card covers the basics. Officers almost never check this for short stays.Recommended
No visa needed — but don't skip the basics
Visa-free entry is straightforward, but airlines and immigration still check passport validity, return tickets, and accommodation. Have all documents ready before you queue.
Overstaying is expensive
The 90-day limit is not extendable. Overstaying even a day can result in a fine and a re-entry ban. Set a calendar reminder to leave on time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the immigration counter
At any Moroccan airport (Casablanca, Marrakech, Rabat, etc.), join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer clearly and briefly. They will stamp your passport with a 90-day entry.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There is no arrival card or declaration form to fill out for standard tourist visits.
