RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply at the official Vietnam eVisa portal at evisa.xuatnhhapcanh.gov.vn. The fee is $25 USD for single entry or $50 USD for multiple entry, valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3 working days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired

Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vietnam
Immigration officers at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Vietnam ready — a bus or train ticket may not be accepted.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers may ask for the address you will stay at during the entry interview.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card statement ready. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your expenses without working.Recommended
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Vietnam. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the eVisa. Airlines check this at check-in and will deny boarding if it's not valid.
eVisa is the only option for Saudi passport holders
Vietnam does not offer visa on arrival for Saudi nationals. You must apply for the eVisa online before you travel. There is no visa-free entry.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Vietnamese eVisa website (evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $25 USD) and submit. Processing takes 3-5 working days. You'll receive a PDF approval letter by email.
2
Print the eVisa approval letter
Print the PDF approval letter you receive. Keep a digital copy on your phone as backup. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at the airport in Vietnam
At any international airport in Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, etc.), go to the immigration counter. Present your passport, the printed eVisa, and your return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. No queue for visa on arrival — you're already approved.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. If asked, show your accommodation booking. That's it.
