Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond arrival

Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cambodia
Airlines and immigration officers ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave Cambodia within your visa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask for your hotel address or booking confirmation. Have a printed copy or a screenshot on your phone ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Officers rarely ask for proof of funds, but having $500 USD in cash or a bank statement helps if questioned. ATMs are widely available in cities.Recommended
Cash only at visa counter
The visa on arrival counter only accepts US dollars cash. No cards, no euros, no Swedish kronor. Have $30 ready in your pocket before you queue. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need cash before that.
Keep your arrival card stub
When you enter Cambodia, immigration will give you a small stub from the arrival card. Don't lose it — you'll need to hand it in when you leave. Hotels won't ask for it, but immigration will.

What happens at the border

1
Fill out arrival form
On the plane or at the airport, grab an arrival card and visa application form. Fill in your details — passport number, flight info, hotel address.
2
Go to visa on arrival counter
At Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airport, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' before passport control. Hand over your form, passport, photo, and $30 cash. The officer processes it in a few minutes.
3
Pay and collect visa
Pay the fee in US dollars. You'll get a receipt and your passport with the visa sticker. Double-check the dates — it's valid for 30 days from the issue date.
4
Proceed to immigration
Take your passport with the visa sticker to the immigration counter. They'll stamp you in. Keep the arrival card stub — you'll need it when you leave.

Frequently asked questions

A tourist visa costs $30 USD, a business visa $35. Pay in cash only — US dollars are preferred. Have exact change if possible.
No, the visa on arrival is not extendable. If you want to stay longer than 30 days, you'll need to leave and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before you travel (like an e-visa or a business visa).
No problem — there are photo booths at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports near the visa counter. They cost around $2-3. But bringing your own saves time.
Yes, at most major land crossings like Poipet (from Thailand) and Bavet (from Vietnam). The process is the same — fill out a form, pay $30, get your visa. But some smaller crossings may not offer it, so check ahead.
Yes, you still need proof of onward travel. A bus or boat ticket out of Cambodia counts. Keep a printed or digital copy.
You'll be fined $10 per day at immigration when you leave. It's not a huge deal, but avoid it if you can — it can cause delays at the airport.
Yes, Cambodia offers an e-visa for $36 + processing fee. It's valid for 30 days and you can apply online before you travel. The e-visa lets you skip the visa-on-arrival queue at the airport. But you still need to go through immigration.
