Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Thailand
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity remaining from the day you leave Thailand. Airlines check this at check-in and immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang enforce it strictly. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Ticket out of Thailand within 60 days
Immigration officers at Thai airports check for a confirmed onward or return ticket dated within 60 days of arrival. Budget airlines at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang are especially strict about this — they may deny boarding without proof. A printed itinerary or digital booking confirmation works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration officers may ask for a hotel reservation or a letter from your host in Thailand covering your stay. Have a printed or digital copy of your booking confirmation ready. A simple Airbnb or hotel confirmation is sufficient.Recommended
Proof of funds
Minimum 20,000 THB per person
Thai immigration can request proof you have at least 20,000 THB (about €520) per person or 40,000 THB per family. Cash, a bank statement, or a credit card showing available credit all satisfy this. Officers rarely ask, but carry evidence to avoid issues.Recommended
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)TDAC
Optional online pre-registration
Register at tdac.immigration.go.th before your flight — it takes 2 minutes and gives you a QR code for a faster immigration lane at major airports. Not mandatory, but saves time in the queue. The old paper TM6 card was discontinued in 2022 for air arrivals.Register for TDACOptional
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Thailand, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, you will be denied boarding by the airline or entry by immigration.
TDAC saves time at the airport
Complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card at tdac.immigration.go.th before you fly. It's optional, but it lets you skip the paper arrival card queue — especially useful at busy airports like Suvarnabhumi (BKK).

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry), print or save your return ticket and first night's hotel booking. Optionally complete the TDAC form online at tdac.immigration.go.th to skip the paper arrival card.
2
Arrive at Thai immigration counter
At any Thai airport (BKK, DMK, HKT, CNX, etc.), join the 'Foreign Passport' queue. Hand over your passport and boarding pass. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address — have them ready on your phone.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with a 60-day visa-free entry. Check the stamp before leaving the counter — ensure the date is correct. You're now free to stay up to 60 days.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free entry for Slovenian passport holders is not extendable. You must leave Thailand within 60 days. Overstaying costs 500 THB per day (about $14 USD) and can result in a ban for longer overstays.
You would need to apply for a tourist visa (TR) at a Thai embassy or consulate before travel. That gives 60 days and can be extended once by 30 days at an immigration office. Alternatively, you can leave Thailand and re-enter for a fresh 60-day visa-free stay — but immigration may question frequent back-to-back entries.
No. Thailand does not require proof of funds for visa-free entry. However, if you look like you might work illegally or overstay, an officer can ask. Having a credit card or some cash (10,000 THB / ~$280 USD) is sensible.
No, it's optional. The TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) replaces the paper TM6 card. If you complete it online before travel, you skip the paper form at the airport. If you don't, you'll fill out a paper card on arrival — it takes 2 minutes.
Yes. The same 60-day visa-free entry applies at land border crossings. Just make sure your passport has 6+ months validity and you have an onward ticket (though less frequently checked at land borders).
You'll pay a fine of 500 THB per day (capped at 20,000 THB). Pay at the airport immigration office before departure. Overstays of 90+ days can lead to a 1-year ban. Best to leave on time.
No. The 60-day visa-free entry covers transit. You can stay in the airport transit area or even leave the airport for a few days without a visa.
