Visa on arrival
Get your visa on arrival at Egyptian airports. Pay the fee in cash (USD, EUR, or GBP) — single entry costs $25 USD, multiple entry costs $60 USD. Have a passport photo ready.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date in Egypt. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready to show. Without one, you risk being refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Have access to at least $1,000 USD or equivalent for your stay. A bank statement or credit card is fine — immigration rarely checks, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in cash (USD, EUR, or GBP) at the bank counter before immigration. Cards are not accepted. Have exact change ready to avoid queues.
e-Visa alternative
If you prefer to skip the airport queue, apply for an e-Visa online at visa2egypt.gov.eg. It costs about USD 30 and takes 3–5 business days. The e-Visa is single-entry and valid for 30 days.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
After landing at any Egyptian international airport (Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Luxor), follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Bank' before passport control.
2
Buy the visa sticker
Go to the bank counter (usually near immigration). Pay USD 25 cash and receive a visa sticker. Do not join the immigration queue without it.
3
Paste the sticker into your passport
Peel the sticker and place it on a blank page. Some counters do this for you; otherwise do it yourself.
4
Proceed to passport control
Hand over your passport with the sticker. The officer will stamp it and may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking. Answer clearly and you're through.
