Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 60 days beyond your stay in Turkey. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Turkey
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at passport control. A flight booking or bus ticket out of Turkey within 90 days works. Airlines may also check this before boarding.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do and you have nothing, you risk being questioned further.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $50–$100 per day in cash or have a credit card with available balance. Officers rarely check, but if they suspect you are working illegally, they will ask.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Turkey, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding or entry. Check your passport now.
No visa, no fee, no forms
Slovak passport holders get a full 90-day visa-free stay. No application, no payment, no arrival card. Just your passport and a return ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you travel, check your passport validity (6+ months from entry), book a return ticket, and arrange first-night accommodation. Save screenshots of everything on your phone.
2
Arrive at Turkish border
At Istanbul Airport (IST) or any land border, join the foreign passport queue. Hand over your passport. The officer will check your passport validity, may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking, then stamp you in. No visa fee, no forms.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry. You're allowed to stay up to 90 days. Count from that stamp — don't overstay.
4
Exit Turkey
When you leave, just go through passport control again. No exit fee. Make sure you leave before the 90-day limit.
